Lisa Newton

Hi, I’m Lisa. I studied at Endeavour College of Natural Health for 6yrs part time to obtain my Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy).

I haven’t always been interested in natural health… or being healthy for that matter! I spent my twenties and thirties on a roller coaster of fad diets, hangovers, gym overload and working to travel. I can’t say I didn’t have some great times during those years, but had I realised then how my lifestyle choices would affect my body later, I might have done things a bit differently.

For me, the path to naturopathy started with a diagnosis of Endometriosis, which I’d been living with since my teens without knowing it. I had been put on the contraceptive pill in high school due to dysmenorrhoea (painful periods), a key sign of endo, and continued taking it on and off until I was in my 30’s, when it stopped masking the pain. I was assured surgery would alleviate the pain for 3-5yrs, as endo tends to come back, but it didn’t help at all. I wasn’t satisfied with the conventional treatment options I was presented with, so sought an alternative. I found natural therapies helped manage my symptoms and wanted to know more, so I could help other women who felt they had been let down by the medical system.

I’ve also had personal experience with mental health and self esteem issues, allergies and eczema, long term yo-yo dieting resulting in self loathing and disordered eating, and most recently, arthritis and early menopause. I’ve found small changes over time have had a huge impact on my life, however I’m still a work in progress!

I’d like to help you reclaim your health, vitality and joy for life! Naturopathy is a patient centered model, focusing on education and empowerment. I will work with you at your pace, around any medications you are currently taking and in conjunction with any other medical or health practitioner you may be seeing.

I aim to find the underlying cause of illness and support you with evidence based natural medicine, including herbs and nutritional supplements, as well as assisting you to implement changes to your diet and lifestyle in order to achieve optimal health and wellbeing. We'll work together to find what works best for you.
